Christmas Cantata
The word “cantata” is defined as “a composition for one or more voices usually comprising solos, duets, recitatives, and choruses and sung to an instrumental accompaniment.” Cantatas are wonderful compositions that present the stories they represent quite well. However, even the best of things do get tiresome. Your soul, your spirit longs for something new, something different. If that’s what you’re looking for, then Levy Baptist Church is your place to come for the Christmas season. This Christmas, the Chancel Choir of Levy Baptist Church will present “Canticle of Christmas.” Rest assured that this is different than a Cantata. A Canticle is defined as “one of several liturgical songs (as the Magnificat) taken from the Bible.” In this application it refers to “The Song of Christmas.”
What church music article would be complete without the call to join us in the choir? Therefore, so you won’t be disappointed, here it is. If you have ever had that voice inside you telling you to sing in the choir………..listen to the voice! It knows what its saying!
The Chancel choir of Levy Baptist is open to all who wish to sing. We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Quire. If you’re interested, come on down and check us out or give us a call at the church.

Cherub Choir
A new and exciting part of our music ministry is helping young children learn how to worship. Conveniently, we meet during the morning worship service at 10:15 on Sundays. In our "Cherub Choir," we teach them that music is one of the wonderful ways we have of expressing ourselves to God and praising Him. On a weekly basis, dedicated teachers who love children are prepared to teach our little ones to understand and explore their musical gifts. More importantly, they provide children with the understanding that it is so important to simply "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!"
